Introduction: Insomnia is a prevalent and costly disorder and when left untreated, has may negative health consequences. Effective pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments for insomnia are available, their effectiveness are limited due to adverse effects and difficulties to implement. Because of these limitations, insomnia patients have been interest in and using traditional medical remedies. In South Korea, Korean traditional medicine is legitimately recognized as conventional medicine in health care system, and has introduced specialist qualification since 2000 in eight subfields including neuropsychiatry.
