Consequences and complications of surgery for tumors of the pre- versus poststyloid parapharyngeal spaces in 41 patients. (Our Experience)

Surgical morbidity differs for pre- vs poststyloid tumor.

Prestyloid tumors can be resected with minimal morbidity.

Higher surgical morbidity of poststyloid tumors is due to the pathology and location of the tumors.

Majority of parapharyngeal space lesions are benign.

Temporary facial nerve weakness is common with the transparotid approach.
