Risk of osteoradionecrosis in head and neck cancers: Comparison between oral and non-oral cancers

gr1.sml

According to Tucker's study [1], the primary location of salivary gland malignancies (SGM) impacts the osteoradionecrosis (ORN) risk, with higher ORN risk noted in oral SGM cases. To echo this relevant finding, we performed a nation-wide database study, focusing on head and neck cancers with radiotherapy(R/T), to compare the ORN risk between oral and non-oral cancers. We adopted the same inclusion and exclusion criteria in our previous study [2] of the National Health Insurance Research Database (NHIRD) from 2000 to 2013 in Taiwan.
