Role of Malleus relocation in cholesteatoma surgery: Our experience in 145 patients

Abstract

The goals of cholesteatoma surgery are complete eradication of the disease and if possible restoration of hearing of the patient. A technique that allows a surgeon to achieve these goals.

The advantages of the intact canal technique are rapid healing and being more functional. But cholesteatoma recidivism is common after this technique.

The introduction of malleus relocation technique favors the use of the repositioned malleus in ossiculoplasty with more stable ossiculoplasty and better hearing outcomes. But no study has presented its role in ICW surgery for cholesteatoma.

Malleus Relocation is an effective ossiculoplasty technique that helps in complete cholesteatoma removal, preventing its recurrence and doing same stage ossiculoplasty with good hearing results.
