Procedure specific consent forms (PSCFs) are an increasingly popular aid to the consent process. They may improve information provision and communication, and make consent documentation more robust.Eight consent forms for commonly performed aesthetic procedures were designed in collaboration with the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS) and the British Association of Aesthetic Surgeons (BAAPS). An online, anonymous survey of BAAPS members (September 2015) was used to inform the development of the forms. The lessons learnt and points to consider in designing procedure specific consent forms are discussed.
