Oral extramedullary plasmacytoma in a HIV positive patient

A 45year old male presented to us with solitary polypoidal growth over the hard palate of 6months duration. He was diagnosed with HIV 4years back and was on antiretroviral therapy for a short period due to financial constraints and medication related toxicity [1]. On examination a 4×3cm polypoidal fungating ulcerated growth with a sessile base extending from the (R) buccal vestibule to the maxillary tuberosity anteroposteriorly, crossing the palatal midline medially (Fig. 1). The tumour was tender, firm with indurated borders and had a blend of erythematous and necrotic appearance.
